Just like the knives I sharpen, I polish the edge on tools so the edge passes through the material with the least amount of friction possible. This gives you the longest time with a sharp blade.

Lawn mower blades: A lawn mower blade is a carbon steel but not hardened like a knife. If it were hardened more it would stay sharp longer but when you hit rocks chunks could break off and be dangerous. So that first wonderful cut you get with a freshly sharpened blade is not going to last all summer. it is up to you how often you get it sharpened, but at least once a year is a good idea.

Other tools I sharpen:
Hoe
Machete
Clippers
Much More

Axe sharpening and rehandle: I can sharpen axes and hatchets so they chop better then new. If you have an axe that needs a new handle I can do that too. Grandpas axe is actually better quality then 99% of the axes available today. I can put a new handle on it and have it ready to chop wood or hang on your wall.

About the only thing I don't sharpen is chainsaw blades. Although I have been asked enough that I probably will starting some time in 2011
